A day at the beach "Giorno al Mare"
Depending on your destination, you'll travel partly along the highway or directly to Savona, a lively port city with almost 60,000 inhabitants. Stroll along the boulevard, enjoy an aperitif at one of the many terraces from 5 p.m., and dine in the charming old harbor.
My advice
A day at the beach is always a good idea. The smell of saltwater, the vibrancy of the coastal towns, a fresh fish dish for lunch—it's all part of the experience. Leave early! The coastline is narrow, and parking can be difficult if you arrive later in the day. Leave early in the morning, order a coffee and brioche by the sea, choose your favorite spot on a free beach or at one of the many bagni, enjoy lunch on the coast, and drive along the coastal road to Savona for an aperitif in the late afternoon. Or return to the Borgo and end the day relaxing with some snacks.
Free beaches or a Lido / Bagni
You can choose a free beach (spiaggia libera), as many Italians do. These public beaches often have a bar open during the day and usually a shower, sometimes for a fee. Sometimes you can also rent sunbeds. The other option is a lido or bagni: a beach club with a bar, restaurant, changing rooms, showers, and toilets. Here you can rent sunbeds and a parasol, offering a bit more comfort.

Taking your dog to the beach
There is a special website and app for dog-friendly beaches.
You can also easily find them on Google Maps.
